the electro-static powder coating technique is the gift from the western countries. This technique is more than 35 years old. In the western countries more than 90% of the conventional painting has been changed to the powder coating technique. In india also, this trend has caught up with industrialists as also with the people. Powder coating, in general, is a better replacement of spray painting. The advantages are: the powder coated material is hard scratch resistant, resistant to most of the acids & chemicals. It is also corrosion resistant. In short this is one stock paint. No solvent, no smell, no pollution involved. The powders, main raw material is made up of three main polymers, one pure epoxy, two pure polyester and three epoxy polyester (hybrid). These can be produced as per specific requirements. The colours can be chosen from more than 500 shades readily available from indigenous resources. If required more shades can be developed easily. Apart from the shades there are three types of finishes viz. Glossy, matt & texture finish. This gives you variety of shades as also finish as per the requirement. By powder coating, you can reach and paint those parts of the object which a conventional paint is unable to do. Hence, the smallest part as also the most complicated part can be powder coated. After coating, further operations on articles such as drilling, grinding, machining etc. Can also be done without affecting or chipping the surface which is coated.
